Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea

Grandiose typography for a grandiose book.

This is my concept cover of a classic! I’m deathly afraid of how big and deep–hell, how unknown–the ocean is. I wanted a cover that communicated its volatility. This cover shows the crashing of the waves and a ship being helplessly tossed around at sea. It almost looks as if it will fall right into the title.

Further down, it’s dark and consuming. The author’s name is intentionally in this void as an homage to Verne who has guided readers to plunge into the dark ocean to learn its secrets for decades.
